Anne's Wellness Center was founded in 2000. The original business began with Anne-Marie N.Pyrda as the sole proprietor. Today, in addition to herself, she has three massage therapists, a chiropractor, and two social workers in her office.
Anne-Marie N. Pyrda
Anne-Marie was born and raised in Central NY. She graduated from New Hartford High School, Utica School of Commerce (AS), SUNY Fredonia (BS in Biology/Pre-Med), and Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage (with honors). Other schooling includes undergraduate studies (science & medical training) and graduate work (alternative medicine).
Anne-Marie is currently a NYS licensed massage therapist and certified reflexologist. She holds several degrees and certifications within the alternative health care field. She has been an active professional member in good standing with the American Massage Therapy Association since 1999.
Since 2000, Anne-Marie has had the opportunity to work backstage as a massage therapist in the entertainment business. She has worked on band and crew members and stage hands such as: Mariah Carey, Godsmack, Disturbed, Joe Cocker, Journey, Yanni, Guns-N-Roses, Blue Man Group, Hall & Oats, Toby Keith, Jamie O'Neal, Brooks & Dunn, 7 Dust, Kenny Chesney, Foreigner, Papa Roach, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Who, Green Day, and Natalie Merchant to name a few.
Anne-Marie has continued her education by studying Reflexology, Hot Stone Massage, Reiki, and Thai Massage. She currently is attending New York Chiropractic College to get her Masters degree in Applied Clinical Nutrition. Her anticipated graduation date is August 2010.
Each year Anne seeks additional trainings and studies modalities so that she can offer her clients the best sessions she can provide. In January 2008 she traveled to Thailand to study Thai massage for 18 days with two well-known masters of Thai Massage in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She currently holds an instructor level certification in Thai Massage. Another trip to Thailand is planned for 2010.
Anne offers Relaxation Massage, Thai Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Sports Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Infant Massage, Couples Massage, Reflexology, and Reiki. Nutritional counseling is also available.
In her spare time, Anne enjoys the company of her family, traveling, riding her motorcycle, reading, and being outdoors.
Lisa Blanchfield, PsyD LMHC
Lisa Blanchfield was born in New Hartford, NY and is a NYC Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC Lic No 002509).
Blanchfield was a Cornell Cooperative Extension child and family studies specialist for eight years. She studied at the Cornell Family Life Development Center under Cornell Professors Urie Bronfenbrenner, Florence Cherry, James Garbarino, Polly Spedding, Jennifer Birckmayer, and Dr. Alice Honig at Syracuse University's Child and Family Studies Department.
She has been an Adjunct Professor in Psychology and Sociology since 1989 and has taught various courses in Developmental Psychology and Sociology at Utica College, Syracuse University, SUNY-IT, HCCC, and MVCC.
Dr. Blanchfield is a past member of the Herkimer County Drug Treatment Court Community Advisory Team and the Oneida County Family Court Treatment Advisory Team. She was recently certified as a NYSDMV Certified Provider of Alcohol Assessments and Treatment services. Blanchfield is a drug/alcohol/disability consultant and has extensive experience in drug and alcohol screening and assessment and crisis counseling.
While employed bu the Mohawk Valley Consulting Associates, as an EAP Counselor, Blanchfield counseled EAP referred clients and was the DOL Customized Employment Coordinator at all four DOL Working Solutions offices.
As a NYS certified family mediator Lisa worked at Catholic Charities of Herkimer County from 2000-.2003 Dr. Blanchfield was requested by Catholic Charities and by the NYC Department of Mental Health after 9/11 to provide counseling services at the Family Assistance Center for the families of the World Trade Center disaster. Blanchfield is a certified PTSD counselor and has experience working with victims of domestic violence. Most recently, she was hired as a consultant to be the Director of the first US Department of Education Life Skills Training Project at the Oneida County Correctional Facility in Oriskany, NY. This work was with adolescents and adults in a correctional facility.
Dr. Blanchfield also has experience counseling emotionally disturbed children and adolescents, and has extensively studied disabilities of all ages.
She currently works in the area of Collaborative Law, as a Parent Coordinator for separating or divorcing families. Dr. Blanchfield is a certified Parents Apartt® Facilitator and provides training and group sessions for families dealing with the pain and difficulty presented due custody, visitation, and the legal ramifications of separating and divorce.
Dr. Blanchfield is the co-founder of Success By Choice, a Life Couching and Consulting Group. The co-founder of SBC is Deborah Haataja-Deratany, MBA who is nationally known as a Florida Supreme Court Certified County and Family Mediator, has extensive experience in mediating civil, criminal, and family cases, was appointed to the Florida Supreme Court Mediation Training Review Board, Deborah Haataja-Deratany also is an Assistant Trainer for county mediation programs through the Dispute Resolution Center in Tallahassee, FL.

Dr. Blanchfield speaks English, Spanish, and Arabic. Her other certifications include NYC Secondary Education and Adult Education, NJ Secondary Education, Canadian Global Institute TESOL, NYS Certified Mediator, NYS Child Abuse and Neglect, Certified Univ. of Pittsburgh Smoking Cessation Specialist, UMASS Parents Apart®. She has presented at the National Council on Family Relations in 1995 in Kansas City MO and in 1997 in Washington DC. She was recognized by the USDA Kellogg Foundation for her research paper on Cognitive Development in Early Childhood and was a Presenter in St Louis MO. In 1991, she was a Kappa Omicron Nu National Honor Society member and in 1995 a Cornell University Farm Fellowship recipient.
Her National Association for the Education of Young Children Conference Paper was accepted in 1996 and 1997 and was a presenter at the AFCC Northeast Regional Conference for High Conflict Families and the Courts in March 2002. The DOL recognized Dr. Blanchfield in 2006 as an Outstanding Disability Awareness Professional.
Dr. Blanchfield has a sliding scale for self pay clients. Sessions are for 50 minutes and in some cases appointments can be arranged in less than 24 hours in emergency cases. DWI Assessments can also be scheduled in 24-48 hours depending on available times. Saturday appointments are also available.
